Teams & clinics
Pool technique, open-water preparation, and race-day confidence — delivered by a licensed swimming coach with decades on the deck, not as an add-on to a run or bike programme.
This page covers group and team work — clinics, squad sessions, and coach development. For personal one-on-one endurance coaching, see full coaching or apply here.
Youth, masters, and performance squads — technique blocks, stroke refinement, turns and starts, and race-prep sessions built around your training calendar.
The swim leg is often the barrier for multisport athletes. Open-water skills, sighting, drafting, race-start practice, and pool progressions that carry into the season’s key events.
Intensive clinic days or short blocks — structured sessions for groups that need clear feedback and practical drills athletes can use straight away.
Workshop delivery, observation and feedback days, and mentoring for coaches who want another experienced set of eyes on technique, session design, or open-water programming.
Formats depend on pool access, group size, and goals. Typical work includes:
Pool-based sessions focused on stroke mechanics, efficiency, and drills — freestyle for triathlon, or full stroke work for competitive swimmers.
Sighting, buoy turns, drafting, wetsuit and race-start practice — building confidence for open-water races and triathlon swim legs.
Multi-session visits when travel and calendar allow — a concentrated period of coaching embedded in your club’s existing programme.
Practical workshops for swim coaches — progressions, feedback cues, and open-water planning from someone licensed through ASCTA and WSCA.
I am Andy Astfalck — Australian national-level swimmer, decades coaching swimming, open-water, and triathlon swim legs in clubs, schools, and international teams. Based in the Netherlands; available for clinics and squad work across Europe when schedule permits. Coached one-on-one athletes on the full programme hear about swim opportunities first.
Team and clinic offerings are being expanded — tell me about your club, squad size, pool or open-water access, and what you want to work on. I will reply personally within a few days with what is possible.
